The Family Check-Up® In-Person Framework
Overview of the In-Person Program
The in-person version consists of three assessment and goal-setting sessions plus a varied number of follow-up services that are tailored to the family’s needs. The process begins with the initial interview with a trained provider to discuss the child’s behavior and family context and to develop mutual trust and respect between the provider and family. The provider gathers enough information to form a tailored assessment of the parents’ concerns, strengths, and the parenting strategies they are using. The provider discusses the assessment results with the caregivers and partners with them to create parent-led goals. The provider also helps them plan follow-up services needed to help reach their goals and provides services related to parenting goals, using the Everyday Parenting curriculum.
The in-person version of the model is tailored to the family; as such, some families receive more follow-up services and support than others.
